How much does an online post-graduate program at UNSW cost?

The total indicative cost of completing your degree depends on the elective courses you choose to complete and any recognition of prior learning before the commencement of your studies. For indicative domestic and international tuition fees visit the Fees Page.

FEE-HELP loans are available to assist eligible full-fee paying domestic students with the cost of a university program. This Government loan scheme helps to pay for all or part of their tuition. For more information visit the Fee-Help Page.

How many hours of study is there per week?

Each hexamester is eight-weeks long, and UNSW Online advises a minimum of 15-20 hours of study per week. The Master of Cyber Security entails a heavier workload, and recommends at least 20-25 hours of study per week. For tips on how to maximise your study visit here.

Is UNSW Online a Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP)?

UNSW Online does not have Commonwealth supported funding, however if you are a domestic student you may be eligible for FEE-HELP to assist with the cost of the online program. This Government loan scheme helps to pay for all or part of their tuition. For more information visit the Fee-Help Page. 

What is Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and how do I know if I am eligible?

Your previous studies can be acknowledged as credit towards your online postgraduate studies provided that they meet relevant course requirements. If you are eligible for admission and you have undertaken previous studies at another institution, you may be eligible to apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) if it is permitted in your selected UNSW Online program.

Students can apply for RPL during the program application process and must ensure all relevant supporting documents are submitted for assessment if requested by Admissions, including course outlines from the same year they completed the relevant course/s as content may change over time.

Do I need to provide evidence of my English language proficiency?

You may need to provide evidence of your English language proficiency to study at UNSW, depending on your educational background and citizenship. UNSW requires a minimum level of English language competency for enrolment. English language skills are essential for webinar comprehension and the completion of coursework, assignments and examinations.

If English is not your first language, you will need to provide proof of your English proficiency before you will be given an offer to study at UNSW. You can do this by providing evidence that you meet one or more of the following criteria:

What support is available for online study?

You will receive academic guidance from your Course Convenor, with feedback and answers to your course-related questions, as well as dedicated one-on-one support for all non-academic matters from your Student Success Advisor. They are available via phone or email to provide motivation and tips to support you to succeed in your studies.

How many intakes are for UNSW Online programs and when do I need to apply by?

UNSW Online offers six intakes annually (Hexamesters) with Census Dates (the last date you will be able to finalise or withdraw from any units of study) occurring in January, March, May, July, September and November. For more information on key dates and application deadlines visit the here.

Step 2: Collect your documents

Your Student Enrolment Advisor will inform you of all the documents required to support your application. These often include relevant academic transcripts and certificates that verify previous study and a CV to indicate work experience.

Step 3: Complete your application

Visit the Apply page. If you find you don't have all the information you need, you can pause the application and come back to it later.

They are on hand for all non-academic queries by phone or email. They will also check in on you from time-to-time during your studies to see how you are going and if they can support you in any way.

Will all my classes be online?

Yes, all classes will be online. Studying 100% online and accelerated meaning you have the flexibility to study at times when you work at your optimum.
