What support do I get when I study with UNSW Online?
Mental Health Connect: Free and confidential mental health support
Mental Health Connect is a free mental health and counselling service available to all UNSW students. We know that finding the right support can sometimes be overwhelming – our Mental Health Connect clinicians provide confidential face-to-face or online counselling to help you deal with any mental health challenges you may be facing.
As a UNSW student, you can access mental health support online. Following an initial appointment, you’ll receive a clear plan for the next steps, which may include referral to other services at UNSW or mental health support in your local area.
Arc: Clubs, events and programs to enhance your study journey
Arc is UNSW’s student organisation and is run by students for students. It’s free to join and gives you access to more than 300 clubs created to help you get social, get active and make the most of your time at UNSW. Arc lets you participate in everything from social to elite sports teams and established volunteering, creative and wellness programs. Online students aren’t forgotten either – there are a range of online programs to encourage those studying online to get involved.
Arc Wellness exists to destigmatise conversations about mental health at uni, share resources to support student wellbeing, and make UNSW a brighter and healthier place for everyone. Many students experience mental stress, low mood, loneliness and relationship issues at some point during their study - Arc Wellness is here to help.
Lastly, Arc’s postgraduate council (PGC) represents postgraduate students to UNSW’s administration, all levels of government, the local community and peak national bodies. PGC exists to facilitate a positive postgraduate experience across the student life cycle via advocacy, engagement and support.
Career Success: Resources to kick-start your career
All UNSW Online students receive free access to Career Success, an online resource designed to give our students a head start on building a rewarding career while they study. Career Success is a self-paced module with a comprehensive framework for thinking about and taking action to implement an effective career plan.

Academic Skills: Develop and refine your academic skills
At UNSW Online, we recognise that it may have been a while since you’ve undertaken formal study. We offer comprehensive academic skills support to help students build their skills across essential academic skills including writing, critical thinking, note-taking and more. Students have access to a library of self-study resources, a range of workshops and courses and one-to-one support to help them make the most of their studies.
Student Success Advisors: Personalised guidance for all aspects of uni life
UNSW’s Student Success Advisors (SSA) support learners with personalised advice and information about university life, wellbeing, academic performance and study skills and financial management. Each SSA is dedicated to aa student throughout their study journey and there to ensure that all students develop the skills they’ll need to navigate and succeed at university.
Students can book a face-to-face or virtual consultation with a Student Support Advisor of their choice.
